Introduction to bookbinding: Case-Binding 1st March 2025
Join our next class on the 1st March 2025
Time: 10am - 2pm
1. General Case-binding (those with no experience) - $200
2. Case-binding with leather spine (or vegan leather) - $220 (must have attended a general class first
Wild Binders Practice from $100 (leather spine add $20, full leather add $50)
Join us for a hands-on experience at Owl and Lion Bindery where participants will master the art of creating a classic 'hardback' journal with a flat or rounded spine, also known as a flat and rounded-back case-binding.
Perfect for writing journals, sketchbooks, or artist books, these handmade journals are sure to become cherished possessions.
In this class, participants will learn:
Multiple section sewing techniques
Rounding the spines
Creating a hardcover
Covering in book cloth
Casing your books
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will depart with their own hand-bound journal and the skills to continue crafting at home with minimal equipment.
Please note:
This class is suitable for beginner class if you are able to follow verbal and visual instructions. Have some craft working skills like cutting, folding and measuring with ruler.
It is recommended but not necessary to complete the Introduction to Bookbinding: chunky journal class, to learn some base skills before joining this class.
All materials and tools provided, including tea, coffee and biscuits.
