Wild Binders Refresher Practice from $200
Case-binding is one of the most widely used bookbinding styles and forms the foundation for understanding book structure and material handling. It’s also a prerequisite for many traditional binding techniques. With its balance of strength and versatility, case-binding is the method behind most commercial hardcover books you’ll find on the shelf. Perfect for journals, sketchbooks, or artists’ books, these handmade creations are sure to become cherished possessions.
At Owl & Lion Bindery, we teach both flat-back and rounded-back case-binding styles, using a range of materials including cloth, decorative paper, and leather.
In this workshop, you’ll pare a full leather piece for your book cover, while reinforcing core case-binding skills. First-time participants will create a full leather-bound book, featuring leather spines and corners. Time permitting, we’ll finish with some blind tooling on the spine to add a subtle decorative touch.
For those returning for a refresher class, you’ll have the opportunity to choose between a quarter or full leather binding, allowing you to tailor the experience to your skill level and creative goals.

This is a highly technical workshop that requires prior case-binding experience. Ideally, participants will have attended the flat-back and round back case binding classes.
